Josephine, nicknamed “Pheenie”, was abandoned after her owner was deported. She sought shelter behind a shipping container in a junkyard to escape the harsh weather conditions. For five years, she survived on scraps and crumbs from the community, but eventually, her situation caught up with her.
Pheeie’s health had deteriorated as she grew older due to the constant stress and lack of attention. Unfortunately, she lost her right eye after being hit by a truck, and her dental problems worsened over time. In addition, Pheeie suffered from a urinary tract infection, multiple breast tumors that were growing aggressively, and an infection in her spinal cord.
This awful movie tells the story of the Hope For Paws volunteers who try to rescue Pheenie from her lonely situation. Despite the difficulties of the surgery, Pheenie eventually realizes that someone has come to save her in her old age. She shows her appreciation by giving her rescuers a tight hug while looking sad and dejected.
Pheenie was placed in a long-term foster care program to meet her growing medical needs. She had the pleasure of spending five wonderful months living on a vast farm with her foster family, where she was content, spoilt, and carefree until she passed away from old age. Although Pheenie’s life was full of hardship and loneliness, she was showered with constant love during her final days. May Pheenie now rest in peace.
